Colorado Beetle

duration: 8:47

year of creation: 2017

Colorado Beetle, consists of a Wedding Palace stage on which a band of classical Azeri restaurant musicians sing five songs written by Huseynov. This work combines traditional musical compositions with newly written song texts. The songs are an ironic celebration of the criminality (Colorado Beetle), female sexuality (Liver Bird and Lesbian), popular cultural migrations (Das ist Schön) and science (Staphylococcus aureus). Whereas Colorado Beetle, Liver Bird, Lesbian and Das ist Schön deal with socio-cultural transformations in a traditional slow changing society, Staphylococcus aureus (song celebrates a bacteria that mostly acts as a commensal bacterium) ads poetry and a surreal character to the work.
